Tropical Splash

Very simple strapless shirt that I'm excited share with you. I found both of the fabrics at Hancock Fabrics. The floral fabric is made of rayon. I like using woven rayon because the drape is beautiful. One down side is that woven rayons tend to warp on the bolt so you'll want to straighten the grain before cutting the pattern, which I'll be demonstrating in the tutorial which is soon to come. Also, rayon tends to fade faster so I recommend dry cleaning any rayon prints, which can be an unwanted expense but also worth it.

Flirty Polka Dot

This is an original piece. The back of the bodice is shirred and there is a double layer of the sheer fabric to avoid using a lining that might add unwanted bulk.

Country Chic

This skirt had a lot of gathering so there was plenty to work with. I even have some left over for another project.
I used a simple stretch lace for the top part of the bodice. The back closure is a zipper that ends at the peplum skirt. And, finally, bias tape for the neck and armhole finishing which is not yet done in these pictures.

Total Cost: About $7
